What's happening
The US interconnection queue totals 1.46 TW across 7,790 active projects. Queues are dominated by renewables and storage, but study timelines, withdrawal rates, and large-load demand vary sharply by ISO.

Projects by state
Shaded states fall in a tracked ISO/RTO footprint (overlaps shown in tooltips) or have projects in our data. Gray states are outside coverage (e.g. Southeast, WECC). Tap a state for counts.

Why this matters
- Interconnection queues are the bottleneck for new generation and large loads. MW sitting in queue ≠ MW getting built — study timelines and withdrawal rates determine what actually connects.
- Fuel mix shows where the grid is headed: solar, wind, and storage dominate most queues, but gas and hybrid projects still account for meaningful capacity.
- ISOs run different processes. PJM's transition cycle, ERCOT's large-load queue, and MISO's reliability rules can matter as much as the raw project list.

Large-load applications continue to stay elevated
ERCOT's 2026 annual report says the large-load interconnection queue contained roughly 400 requests totaling about 239 GW-equivalent demand.
